Counselling and Hypnotherapy

People enter into counselling for a variety of reasons; perhaps as the result of current relationship difficulties or a major event occuring, such as a bereavement.  Others, pehaps in response to a general sense of unhappiness, or in an effort to gain insight into an issue which seems to repeatedly affect their life.  For some the counselling experience represents a gift to one's self ..... perhaps a journey of self discovery.

There are times in all our lifes when we may feel overwhelmed or unable to cope. Often we share this openly with family and friends. At other times our problems and feelings can be difficult to understand, and we can find no clear answer form our own resources. Talking to a professional, impartial counsellor can provide you with a supportive, confidential and safe environment in which to explore personal difficulties and discover ways of moving towards a healthier way of living and being.

I would describe myself in essence as a humanisic, person-centred counsellor, believing the quality of the relationship formed between the client and the counsellor to be of paramount importance.  Humanistic theory teaches us that the individual is the expert in their own life and experiencing, and as such has the ability to find their own answers and meanings, if given a safe and supportive environment in which to do so.

I also have a interest in existential counselling theory and additionally I'm well versed in the application of CBT and it's associated interventions.
